Mozy 2.0 Now Creates Local Backup for Complete Backup Solution
The new Mozy 2.0 software includes a local backup option, meaning you can keep your own copy of the data Mozy's already storing online.
The new feature, called 2xProtect, archives your files to any drive connected to your PC: a second hard drive, a flash drive, etc. (Network drives don't appear to be supported at this time.)
Check on your Facebook Privacy
A free Facebook privacy audit tool can be found at http://www.reclaimprivacy.org/facebook. Once at this site drag the link into your bookmark folder and go to your Facebook privacy settings. Once there go to your bookmarks and click on scan for privacy. It will give you a summary and link to any area of your Facebook account that is unsecure and allows Facebook or others to share your information. With that information you can adjust your settings to the level of privacy that you would like.
Don't Let Spammers See Your "Out of Office" Replies
Configuring your email program to automatically return "Out of Office" notifications to email senders is good for internal mail system users, but it can provide confirmation of an email address to a spammer, if permitted to leave the corporate network. Configure your message replies to recognize only trusted domain addresses or block your notifications outbound at the firewall.
For home users, never say you are not home, but rather "away from the computer right now", and don't specify for how long. You don't want to advertise your absence.
